Camp Confident
Learn the basics of camping in a relaxed, supportive overnight workshop designed especially for beginners, in Melbourne, Victoria
If you’ve always wanted to go camping but don’t know where to start, Camp Confident will help you gain the confidence and practical skills to enjoy your very first overnight camping adventure.
No judgement. No silly questions. Just practical advice from someone who remembers exactly what it feels like to be a beginner.
What is Camp Confident
It's Not About the Gear
Camp Confident isn’t about having the best camping gear. It’s about having the confidence to use what you have and enjoy the outdoors.
Too many people put off camping because they think they need to own every gadget or buy the most expensive equipment before they can get started. The truth is, you don’t.
My goal is to help you understand what really matters, make the most of the gear you already own, and give you the confidence to enjoy your first camping adventures. If you decide to upgrade later, you’ll do it with experience and confidence, not guesswork.

Why Camp Confident
Save Money by Buying the Right Gear the First Time
One of the biggest concerns for new campers is spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on equipment they later discover doesn’t suit them.
Over the last three years I’ve researched, bought, tested, compared and even sold camping gear while searching for the best beginner setup.
At Camp Confident I’ll help you understand what you genuinely need to get started, what can wait until later, and what is simply clever marketing. My goal is to help you avoid expensive mistakes and buy with confidence when you’re ready.
The Details
What You'll Need to Bring
Bring whatever basic camping gear you already own.
For most people this simply means:
- A tent, swag or other suitable shelter
- Something comfortable to sleep on (mattress or stretcher)
- A sleeping bag and/or bedding
- A camp chair
- Personal clothing and toiletries
Please don’t feel you need to buy lots of expensive equipment before attending.
If you’re unsure whether your gear is suitable, simply ask before the workshop. Helping people work out what they really need and what they don’t is one of the main reasons Camp Confident exists.
ABOUT Me
Hi, I'm Bec.
Like many people, I wasn’t born knowing how to camp.
Over the last three years I’ve become a little obsessed with finding the best camping setup. I’ve researched, bought, tested and even sold camping gear while working out what really works for beginners and what simply isn’t worth the money.
I’ve made plenty of mistakes, upgraded equipment more times than I’d like to admit and spent countless nights camping in different conditions so I can give practical, honest advice based on real experience.
Camp Confident was created because I kept meeting people who wanted to experience camping but felt overwhelmed by the equipment, worried about getting things wrong or simply didn’t know where to begin.
I wanted to create the workshop I wish had existed when I started — a place where beginners could ask absolutely anything without feeling embarrassed.
Today my favourite part is seeing people leave excited and genuinely confident about their first camping adventure.
